100MN Tengu, Not a bomber But fun.

^ That post is insufficient. Therefore I will post my take on le battle.

I was sitting back relaxing- admiring the soft blue glow of my utilitarian caldari quarters, when suddenly the intercom crackled to life. It seems that one of our deep space covops pilots had detected something rather interesting. His voice sounded rushed, and excited. An orca was slow boating out of a large bubble, near gate 3 jumps from my home system. Feeling my heart quicken with the thought of enforcing the space lanes (it seemed this pilot was unlicensed), I sprinted out onto the gang plank- and horridly shoved my ocular implant special edition manacle into my eye. I stopped by the mini fridge near my pod, pulled out a Quafe, some blue pill, and a bit of crash for the upcoming altercation with this unlicensed flyer. As I sank into the warm link fluid of my pod, I hesitated a moment and looked out at my gang plank. There she was, standing in nothing but a grey night gown, looking as beautiful as ever, I flashed a smile, and hoped that I would come back soon. She waved, and a second later my pod closed with a soft thud. The cool electronic chords fused into my lower skull and along my spine. I was home again. As i slowly coalesced with my ship, tactical overlays began to dance in my psyche. I forgot about her, about space bills, everything else exited from my mind. I was ready.
I opened my mind, and pushed my ' Tengu ' class strategic cruiser through the docking port. As I took stock of my ship, I fondly remembered how I had become the proud owner of this vessel; A gift from a special friend. I checked over my fittings- Heavy missiles, pirate class shield booster, special 'federation' issue webs, and a nice disruptor from a friend of mine who was chummy with some thukker guys. As i was calmly towed out of station- a long shadow descended upon my cruiser. Looking up I noticed that it was none other than a 'Machariel' class Battleship. I grinned to myself; it seems that my fellow officer aeth gemulus had decided to take this job seriously. I could never figure out how he had gotten a hold of that ship. It being a pirate ship, he stuck out like a sore thumb flying alongside my police issue ship, but it had never let him down in a fight. According to him it was in some convoluted karaoke bet... that he had won the ship. But for some reason I just couldn't believe that story- no one in their right mind would part with something so deadly over a song.
Aeth invited me to link into his fleet, and I was happy to notice that another officer was already on the case. It seems that good news travels fast. As I linked into fleet communications, I was greeted by none other than Jed. Already a jump ahead of me, Jed was in his trusty ‘Tornado’ class Battle Cruiser. I had always through that was an interesting choice- every time we entered warp, I always thought that his ship would come out on the other end reduced to nothing but metal scraps. But if anyone could handle a ship like that it was Jed, and in the past few years- it had never let him down (scratched paint and duck tape aside) As we exchanged pleasantries I urged my ship into warp, and felt the familiar shudder as my engines screamed to life.
As I flew towards the first gate, it appeared that our unlicensed pilot was attempting to fly a huge ‘Orca’ class Capital Industrial ship un-detected through our patrolled space. Why a pilot could somehow think he / she could surreptitiously move an orca through space is beyond me. It must be loaded with illegals, or some type of contraband. This could potentially be a huge bust- and break our smuggling case wide open. It’s just what we needed.
Things started to get dicey when our covops guy lost sight of the target. It seems that our runner had taken an interesting turn through G-M4I8, and was headed towards R-2R0G. Luckily using his police instincts, and years of experience on the beat- Jed made the right call and was already warping ‘the nado’ towards the R-2 gate in G-m. Communications suddenly became hesitant. Jed had pushed his Tornado into warp, and was making best speed towards the gate. His scanner picked up the fugitive as it jumped out of system. We were racing against the clock, it was all up to Jed.
Jumping from Saranen into 93PI-4 I knew that I had to assist Jed quickly. With a bust this big, it will almost be certain that the drug lords will put up a fight. Communications became a monologue of Jeds status reports. It seems that he had missed disrupting the fugitive on the G-M gate in R-2 and was giving chase towards the system of CR-AQH. My feelings of trepidation about this job were almost uncontrollable. CR- is the home system of a band of scum lords, all of which were gnomes with a serious case of small men syndrome.
Jed continued pinging my ship with status updates, it seemed that the target had jumped into CR- and Jed was right behind. Luckily Aeth and I were just warping into R-2 so we were only a short distance behind. The seconds crawled by… Jed hit the gate and jumped- blind into CR-. Aeth and I awaited breathlessly, when suddenly ‘GATE CLEAR, D SCAN CLEAR, ORCA OFF GATE… I HAVE POINT!’ with a quick ‘hell ya’ on our fleet chatter Aeth and I jumped into the pirate den. I tried to hide my dumb grin- it was go time.
My tengu shuddered out of system trans warp, and I quickly took in my surroundings. D scan was clear for now, but my neocom showed 33 pilots in local. With our fleet consisting of Aeth, Jed, myself, and a scurrying officer tofu (who was a few jumps out in his trusty hurricane) I knew we had to take care of this situation quickly. I saw the machariels engines belch fire as Aeth punched the accelerator and proceeded to ram the Ocra farther from the system gate. It was all over now. I urged my tengu closer and ‘webbed’ the target- he was stuck now.
Now that we had secured the arrest, we attempted to ticket the pilot. However the pilot resisted our offer of a lenient 500mil fine, and instead preceded to retort- ‘Fuck you’ in local. We attempted to calm the subject down, however this only seemed to aggravate his unstable mood more- and he began calling out on all local subspace channels ‘I need help’. Unsure of how quickly the small men could truly mount a resistance force, officer Jed and Aeth decided to poke a few holes in the orca. With 15 800mm ‘Repeating’ artillery on the field, these ships could dish out a ton of hurt, soon fire had broken out aboard many decks of the now sinking orca.
However it was against officer policy to destroy ships outright- unless there was imminent danger, or outward signs of aggressing. Because the Orca had done neither- it was our duty to wait out until a proper resolution to the problem was found. In the mean time I proceeded to send a proper communiqué through all ‘Team Liquid’ space channels in an attempt to acquiesce additional supporting officers.
Thirty minutes later, and now 175K off the gate- the officers had grown weary. It seems that the gnomes were too drunk / high to mount a significant threat, and the orca pilot had resigned to his fate- he knew it was over. During this time, I had ordered someone to get a bubble set up around the orca (who needs a dictor? Not I. ), in the hopes that after we killed the crumbling ship, we could also take down the pilots pod. However before my brilliant plan could take effect, my neo-comm screamed in my ear- local space had jumped up to 50. It seemed that backup had finally arrived,
 and in force.
Giving the order, one round of shells out of the machariel and tornado put the orca out of its misery.

Thankfully I also arrested the pod.

Hitting my D-scan quickly, I found that it had exploded with ships, all comprising the enemy fleet.
3X Scimitar
Machariel
2X Maelstrom
Tengu
2X Onyx
Cerberus
2X Lachesis
Rook
4X Drake
Harbinger
2X Rifter
Harpy
2X Vigil
Taranis
Scorpion Navy Issue
Tornado

It seemed that our reputation had preceded us 26 vs 4. Now that is what I call good odds. As the Orca lay listing in space, our ever aware commander realized that we could not leave this large amount of litter in space. While our fleet began to align out I along with another trash acquisition ship approached the listing wreck. With a salvager equipped, my companion officer Orious had the orca cleaned up in no time- and luckily not a moment too soon. Officer Aeth called for a 50K warp to the small men home station, we were going to meet them for glorious battle.
I kicked the tengu into warp, and once I shuddered back into normal space- my sensors had exploded with ships. This is Just what I had been waiting for- a chance to really put my new tengu ‘Freckles’ through her paces. I overhead my special Gist- X type 100MN afterburner, and charged into the enemy fleet. As my tengu surged ahead into the fleet, I knew that I had to keep a keen eye on my piloting. Half of the fleet had already read boxed me, and I had a feeling that I was going to be called damage primary. There was enough alpha on the field to insta pop my hyper high end cruiser, I couldn’t get careless or lose transversal for a second. The battle on the station raged for about 10 min. During that time our fleet tried in vein to apply enough DPS to try and pull through 3X scimi reps. We got close on many occasions, but the small men seemed unwilling to go beyond 30K of their station, and certainly never out of Scimi rep range.
We were getting bored- so Officer Aeth called a warp out, to a Far gate. At 70K We had only a few seconds reprieve when their entire gang landed 50K off us. It was time for round two. Luckily I had just finished repairing most of my heat damage, and began to burn towards the fleet again- when I noticed a Machariel along with light tackle on a intercept course towards me. Again their entire gang proceeded to red box me, and my computer screamed in a symphony of warnings. I began to change my course, and punched my AB. I need to keep that Mach off me, and at the same time I need to ensure that light tackle didn’t web me. Slowing down would be death to me. Using my webs the first of the light tackle bit the dust thanks to a coordinated effort  focusing our DPS on the webbed frigate.
The other frig disengaged, and I decided to strike out at the Machariel. I had it webbed, and pointed- and for a short while- the pilot had stupidly flown of his Scimitar Rep range. Officer Aeth called for all DPS on the machariel. I heated my launchers and prayed. Could we kill it in time before the scimitars could give their life saving reps? 75% Shield, 50% Shield, 25% shield…. And shit. The reps hit him just in time. I had been orbiting this Mach for some time now, and my tengu was feeling the strain. Their entire enemy fleet had closed distance on our position, and I was feeling the Machariels heavy neut slamming into my cruiser (along with a web… wtf a machariel with a web? ) with my 8 active modules all running, some running with heat, and a fleet of about 30 ships focusing on you- I would never trade this job for any in the world.

‘Freckles’ and I were in our element. I heated my AB, drank my Quafe, and took some crash. I over heated my webs and began the process of peeling frigs and the machariel off me. I grabbed the harpy first- with webs on and it called damage primary, I had hoped that we could kill it. But sadly we didn’t have the projection to bring it down under 3X sustained scimitar reps. Thankfully, Caldari AF’s are not known for their speed and I pulled away from his web, while he was still stuck under mine. Next came the rifter that was also webbing me.
After him, it was only me and the machariel. Keen to keep my transversal up I had begun cork screwing down and away from the body of the enemy fleet. Thankfully I was faster than the angel battleship, and holding my webs on him, broke free. But I was hardly in the clear at this point. My cap booster, shield booster, webs, and AB were running all out just to keep me afloat. My mids were heating up and my Tengu shook as the combined brunt of the enemy’s fleet struck it. I had gotten through the worst of it. Or so I had thought. What remained of our small fleet was valiantly trying to bring down primaries. At this point we had not lost a single officer.
For the next twenty minutes I dove in and out of the enemy fleet- trying to separate them from the scimis, grab points, and webs on primarys and trying to find a way to pull anything closer to our fleet. Being in a tengu can be a blessing and at times a curse. Here I was: one versus thirty attempting to secure points and webs for my fleet, when primaries were called. I was the only ship that could get in this close with any hope of survival. However the pilots of the hatchery are not about to be undone: leaving me mostly to traverse the battle field as a lone wolf, the remaining hatchery pilots found ways to fly around the maelstrom and position their ships perfectly to apply DPS, and somehow manage to avoided the two lachesis and light (scimi repped) tackle on the field. It is a pleasure having the opportunity to fly with some of the best in the business of law enforcement.
As the battle raged on, officer Aeth and I had decided that the only way we could really get a kill in this fight, was for their fleet to become sloppy- and move out of rep range. It was going to be a waiting game. But the unthinkable happened. Jed our feerless Orca hunter, suddenly had light tackle descending on his tornado. Remaining calm he over heated his MWD and tried to pull as much range as possible, before the enevitable scram hit him: Because if that happened, his tornado would lose speed, range control and be volleyed off the field by the superior enemy fleet. Jed called for support, and myself along with our anti tackle ships flew to his rescue. He had a harpy, rains, and lachesis long pointing him.
Pangell, Orious, and I rushed to Jeds Aid. Orious split webs on the harpy- and Jed costed out of web range. But a tranis was gaining ground on him. Luckily I threw webs on the tranis, and took it down.

The ranis exploded in a ball of blue light- and Jeds MWD once again screamed to life. But sadly it was too little too late. The lachesis had a long point on him. As our fleet tried in vain to kill it under 3X scimi reps Jed and his valiant tornado burst into blue light.

With the battle quickly becoming a stalemate, it seemed that the small men had gotten bored, and returned back to their home station. Through sheer grit and determination the EC- police held the field.

Flying back to Saranen, I remembered why I played this game. For great PvP battles like this. There is nothing better than returning home with most of your modules burnt out, successful, and being able to say-
“I was there.”

Getting back after a Hiatus

Hey all, its been some time since I have written in this blog. As some of you may or may not konw, I really have not been down in WH space. I have been playing in ATX, and flying with some of the best pvp'ers in the business. 'The Hatchery' is my new home, and for the past year or so I have been honoing my skills in small gang nano pvp along with FC'ing those types of fights. However with my newfound wealth I plan on making the return to worm hole space more regularly. I plan to be flying new fits, and brining in new assets that will increase my sucsess.

So lets start- how do i feel about bombers now that I have had the chance to really get some more varied pvp experience underneath my feet: To begin I still feel that bombers require a large sp sink to be able to pilot effectively. Along with SP, you are going to need in game experience. You need to know your ship types backwards and forwards, as well as speeds, fallofs, and weapon tracking from the top of your head. Another thing that you are giong to need is a proper fit, and when i mean fit- I mean everything. Implants, drugs, links ext. Now take all of this with a grain of salt. If your only plan with a bomber is kill soft targets (things that really can't shoot back) then you really never have to go this in depth with a bomber. If shooting those types of targets is your only goal, wait for next week and i will go with an over view of WH infiltration. However for the remaining of this post- I am giong to be talking about hitting things that shoot back.

Lets start with implants. Depending on how much ISK you have to throw into your bomber, this is going to vary slightly. Here is a list of useful implants:

Genolutions, both of these can help you get that extra fitting so many bombers need, along with helping you out if you don't have AWU 5 or some other SUG 5 yet. I highly suggest getting a pair of these.

Implant slot 6: Acceleration Control (3% bonus to speed)
Implant slot 7: Evasive manuvering (3% bonus to agility)
Implant slot 8: Zor's custom navigation hyper link (5% bonus to speed)
Implant slot 9: deadeye target navigation prediction (3% decrease to velocity factor on missiles- this is huge for torps.)
Implant slot 10: Deadeye Rapid launch: (3% increase to launcher fire rate.)

The above list is the basics. If you have more isk- get 5% over 3%. However if you really have some isk to spare then i suggest a set of HG Snake :)

On to drugs. I suggest that you also carry these:

Quafe Zero- 5% increase to speed, and 5% increase to targeting speed- NO CHANCE OF SIDE EFFECT the soda pop is an amazing drug, on basically every ship. I love it.

Crash: Now there are a few different concentration levels of crash. The lowest, which you can carry around in HS and has zero side effects is the synth version. It gives a 3% decrese in explosion velocity, helping to apply more of your dps to the target. Flying with synth in a bomber is a must.

Ok now that is out of the way, lets talk about links. Off grid links are incredible. Getting a second T3 account that can probe and provide links can be a huge plus while in WH space. If you have the ISK again- i suggest grabbing one. I deally you would run a quad link loki, with skirmish mind link. Have your 3 skermish link, along with your 4th being an information superiority link.

The skermish links are pretty self explanitory- they make you go faster, they shrink your sig, and they will increase your long point range / web range. A t2 unheated long point with links- is 36K. You can heat out too 42K. If you want to put a bit of bling on your bomber, grab a dark blood warp disruptor. that will give you an unheated point out too 42K. If you are willing to throw even more isk- grab an RF point. Unheated you can point out too 45K unheated, and 53.8K heated. Now links and this long point help you in many great ways.

First and formost it keeps you far out of web, neut, and even heavy neut range. Another great plus is it allows you and your slow as shit bomber to orbit at a wide range, and keep your top speed up, making it harder for those light drones to get on you. Lastly a bomber with a 10mn ab or 1mn complex MWD sitting out around 40K is nearly impossible to hit with most (i stress most) turret based weapon platforms. The only weapon system that is really going to reliabily hit you (They are still going to struggle applying any sort of real dps) out at those ranges, are pulse lasers, and HMLs. Don't get me wrong- if you really cut your transversal, an arty cane is still giong to blap you. Like flying any frigs, you need to watch what is on the field, and your transversal- no matter what links you are flying with.

Now on too the bombers- as you know I feel that hound / purifier are king. But I have found a use for the 4 mid slot bombers. If you throw a sensor damp, with range script and a cap booster on them, they can do some pretty funny things. For example: A single maxed skilled damp (links makes it even better) can damp down tier 2 BC class ships to a piont  where you can sit at overheated long piont range, and they cannot even target you. If you put an information link, and skirmish links with your bomber, this range is amplifed even more :) It is a usefull trick.

Well thats it for now, I plan to go through some of these new ideas in a bit more detail in the next part. To end I will leave you with this: An excellent video of a guy pushing the bomber to the limit. Snakes, blue pill, maked out skirmish links, and siege links= your bomber can be really really fun.

10AB Purifier, 100AB Tengu + Links

More tales from the whiskey hole.

Seems that 100AB Tengu (w/ links) +1 Purifier is fun

Before I begin, hats off to Sergeant RL3. I have a lot to learn from you, and would like to thank you for allowing me to fly and learn form your experience Your PvP in your 100AB is a pleasure to watch and participate in.

So Serg calls me in SCBW local one day, and ask Chessur- you live in worm hole right? Is there anyone that I can come over and fuck up? I say yes and before you know it, Serg shows up in worm hole space, and joins me in the underworld of eve.

The holies of 308 are rather annoying. Like most pseudo holie PvP players they like to sit on the hole at 0. However this doesn't work so well when there is a 100AB tengu that is very very good at bumping.

Our first victim was an onyx that enjoyed sitting on the hole at 0 with bubble up. I guess he was not too concerned when serg jumped in, flew off the hole to 40K turned around and started to scream right at him. Him not jumping through the hole during those precious seconds, spelled his death.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14495848

During the onyx fight (who is now trapped 20K off the hole) a drake and hyperion decide to show up and crash the party. Sadly, neither of them can break the tengu or my tank (yes i said tank). I grabbed point on the onyx while serg blasted over to the drake, pointed web, and proceeded to rape it.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14495857

At this point the battle was getting too intense for the hyperion (it had not hit one of us) and it jumped out of the hole. I was discussing how this corp had dropped a thanny on me before (yes just 1 recon and a purifier can make them drop carriers...) When the hole shimmered, and out popped the hyperion. Returning from the POS was another onyx. So we engaged again. Hyperion was sitting on 0 off the hole, and was doing nothing- onyx had warped in at 30K away. I grabbed point while serg tried to bump the hyperion off the hole. Then the shit hit the fan.

We had a thanatos drop in out of warp, 30K off the hole and 20K from me. I was worried that it would have heavy neuts, so i burned out of range, while serg immediately dropped his bumping game on the hyperion and took a point on the thanatos. I took a wide 55K orbit and started lobbing torps at the onyx yet again. We were ever so slowly breaking it's tank. In the mean time me and serg were going through all of our intel channels to try and get some support to come and drop this thanny. The thanny started a triage cycle (WTF?) so me and serge tried in vain to dorp the onyx. We were biting down the shield, when another holie member warped to the hole at 50K in his scorpion.

Skirmish links are amazing. I overloaded my prop, burned at him and overloaded my point. Once he was pinned, serg and I had a combined DPS to pop that scorp before it even had a jam cycle off.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14495856

As a final insult, I took the pod as well.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14495855

At this point things were getting a little interesting. We had a triage thanny, and an onyx. I had not planned on this rather extended and heavily tanked fighting. We were 3 Jumps out to HEK, so with the tengu holding a comfortable point on the Thanny (onyx really doing nothing) i took out off out of the hole, to grab more repair paste, torps, and ammo for serg. On the way to Hek serg decided that he had to pee, so while orbiting the thanatos, walked to the bathroom, and then came back. Only a man with true cahones attempts something so brash.

On the way back to the worm hole 1 Jump out to be exact- the unthinkable happened... Serg was jammed.

THE FUCKING ONYX HAD JAMMERS ON IT

Apparently ever since it landed it had been trying to jam out the tengu, and finally got off a single cycle. The thanatos was hot aligned, and insta warped back to the pos to lick it's wounds. After this ass whipping, the holies didn't want to play any more, and they logged out. So me and serg took off through another worm hole to Nul sec.

Acting as scout serg and I shot around some of the populated systems until something decided to come and fight us. In the mena time, serg sniped a munin burning off a gate.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14496177

After that things started getting intense. Russians showed up with a Mach, 2 nano drake, 2 nano cane to fight off serg and I. Our first engagement was rather shaky. Serg had to warp off in 75% armor after the mach shattered his tengu tank.We had thought the day was lost, until I grabbed a warp in on a cane sitting off the gate.

I called out to serge and he punched his tengu into warp. I uncloaked- overheated my point, prop, torps. I was about half way through his shield when serg dropped out of warp 20K of him, and proceeded to quickly drop his ass.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14496657

Just as we were chewing up the last of the canes HP, the rest of his nano gang landed. Let me tell you seeing a mach, drake, drake, cane land about 17K off your bomber is a scary sight indeed. Thankfully the cane was just exploding... so with his lock off I insta cloaked and warped off to safety with serg.

The next day it seemed that serg had a good enough time flying with me, that he decided to log of in hole, and join me in the morning. The day started off slow...

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14499739

But started to heat up, once a tengu dropped out of warp to witness the destruction of his industrial friend. i guess this tengu didn't understand that not having a prop mod, and landing 20K from the hole is a bad idea. Serg and I engaged him instantly. Half way through the fight, the enemy tengu realized that he was not breaking serg's tank... so he primed me. To bad for him, his tengu couldn't crack my tank either, and he burned up in a ball of fire only 15K off the worm hole.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14499738

After the tengu loss, shit got serious in worm hole 51. It was time for some RR fun! out of the high sec popped out about 7 RR BS with a armor tanked, and jam fit scorp. Serg tried in vein to bump something off the hole, but they had webs- and the group of RR sniper BS (yes rr on snipers ?!?!!) wasn't moving off the hole. Whats worse- serg was getting perma jammed form the scorp, and even if we could get a lucky bump- there was no way serg could slap his web on the target. So i came up with a plan. Serg alone could not break the RR tank. So i suggested that both of us over heat, and primary the scorp. If we could make that jump through the hole, we could the try to bump and web a BS off the hole. If the scorp was stupid enough to jump back in again, and try to save his friend- he would be locked out of the hole for 2min30sec and me and serg might have a chance at breaking it.

With the plan in hand, I decloaked- and was instantly red boxed by the entire group of BS. Volley after volley began flying around my purifier.... but as expected they were all way off from hitting their target me and serg started to take chunks of armor from the scorp.... when it was about 35% armor left, the scorp jumped, along with the other 5 BS back out to high sec.

F that.

So we moved to hole 308 (the guys who dropped a thanatos on us yesterday) and moved into the static C3 hole. Once inside we noticed a tengu piloted by a pilot i will not name. I had tried to kill this pilot multiple times but, he always had his drake stabbed.... with about 3 of them. we could never hold him. ever ytime I had engadged him, he would always primary me- send his drones on me... in fact i thnk that it was his goal in life to kill me in any way shape or form. Even if that meant sitting on a worm hole at 0 in your stabbed drake....

But today we had a secret weapon- Serg.

The tengu has a cloaky buzzard alt, and the second we popped through the hole, the tengu safed up. (Seemed that we caught him running his 3rd site... all the wrecks were yet to be salvaged.) Then he logged out.

I was livid.

Serg was sitting on the c2 side of the c3 and noticed that there was a falcon at one of the POS... once it disappeared, he postulated that perhaps the tengu might try and burn through the hole, with the tengu jamming him. So i called an SB friend of mine in a hound- and before you knew it we had serg on 0 of the worm hole, and a hound sitting with primed torps about 50K off.

As expected the tengu pilot logged in, and warped to the hole quickly. he jumped through. I sat on the C3 side waiting patiently. On the c2 side it seems that the falcon decloaked and got a face full of missiles.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14500699

serg locked up and pointed the enemy tengu... when it warped back through the worm hole. When it did that- it was all over. it was now sealed out of that worm hole for 2:30.... the worm hole shimmed on my side, so i decloaked and pointed the tengu. Serg and Chey (in his hound) were in tow. The pilot immediately seeing me primed me and let loose. But again a tengu with out a web is not going to break my tank. he lobbed missiles at me the entire time- once he hit about 33% on my MSE my HP sank no lower, and the tengu shattered 10 or so seconds afterwards.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14500698

Thanks to Serg, and Chay howler for flying with me

Again this bomber pilot would like to tip his over size AB hat to Serg- beautiful piloting man. Hope we have many roams in the future.

Next week I plan on writing a post from an SB point of view of all this. How does one stay alive? What is your role? What should you be doing in fleet?

Can i Join your mining op? Let me grab my... falcon?

Mining ops. I love them, becuase you get more bank for your buck. The only thing missing- is as always more points.  Today me and a friend of mine broke up a mining op- and I felt that a story like this should be posted. This is a tale that happened some time ago, and was rather funny.

Everyone was hanging out in vent, after a long day. I was drinking my Guinness and kicking it back with a piece of cheese cake, when one of our newest members calls out on coms:  I hvae a mining op, 2 retrievers, covetor, bestower on scan, with cans. As you all know, i love jet can miners. So I asked in vent if anyone was up for a quick roid ticketing. The only thing wanted to join me, were two of our falcon pilots. So fitting them with rainbows, we pushed off and made the trip through high sec.

I was a bit worried- as this was the biggest engagement 'the new guy' has handled. I thought that I should probably grab another beer, so i finished off my cheese cake and opened another beer. On the way there I figured that this was going to be an easy job- 3 soft targets, so no worries. But as every good PvP pilot knows, change is the face of the battlefield. 4 Jumps away from our target we get a call on coms that a demios and brutix are now 'guarding' the mining op, and there is also a possibility of a cloaky ship watching the high sec hole.

So I decided to do something rather interesting. Let 'the new guy' run the show. Me and our 2 falcon pilots waited patiently outside of the hole, within 5K.We hoped that once we had a warp in point we could simply fly through the hole- and warp to the mining op before everything warped off. Now i am not if you are aware, but when you try and sneak up on miners unlawfully destroying natural wonders there are about 19340781230784134 1mm wide roids that can decloak you. We needed 'the new guy' to traverse this rather treacherous infield and give us a warp in.

I was trying to command him as best I could with out actually seeing any of the target, or the battlefield. It was slightly nerve wracking, so i slammed my beer- as we gave the word to jump. I jumped through the worm hole, right after the falcons. We punched the warped engines- and landed on the grid. as anticipated everyone was decloaked. The falcons spread jams, and we spread points (all three of them). We had the demios and brutix jammed- so we opened up on the miners.

Third:
Warped away becuase we didn't have a point

Once the 'soft' targets were down, we moved on to our jammed targets.

First was the brutix:

Once the brutix was down, the demios decided he had enough and broke off. We all thought the fun was over, when i noticed that some one was closing on us with a heritic. I thought that it must be one of the dead retrievers, so I told everyone  to cloak up and see what happens. The heritic landed on the grid, and proceeded to bounce off a roid- and get trapped in a mess. I gave the order to uncloak, jam and open fire.

It seems that keeping your MWD on while moving 100m/s = Death when my torp hits you in the face.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14270312
Roids suck don't they :)

It seems that after this- they got mad. So these holies decided to drop an astarte, dammnation, absolution, and slephnir on us. While falcons are good, i had a feeling that 2 purifiers (one new and low sp) and 2 falcons are not going to be enough to put a stop to that EHP nightmare. So with a victory in hand- we cloaked up and pushed off.

All special shout out to Smily Smile- I know that we traded pleasantries after the fight, but remember trying to whore on kill mails can be a dangerous pastime, I just can't bring myself ot shoot at other bombers <3

Hope you enjoyed, AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP HURTING MY SPACE ROIDS

Why yes that Purifier is in fact.... bait

Quick tale from the Whisky Hole-

Why pilgrims + 1 bomber are fun!

The day started out with this-

Which lead to this

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14377116

Then they got mad. So they sent interceptors and other frigs to kill us. Using my purifier as bait, and noticing that he was dual boxing, this happened:

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14376316

Then the kitsune thought that jamming the pilgrim would stop its drones. Hopefully it learned form it's mistake.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14376328

Thanks to my long range point- the Kitsune was also podded

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14376380

Then shit got real. They brought A RAIL FEROX OMG

I closed in from 40 k, keeping transveral up- and pointed, settled in orbit and smashed him. Sadly when he was entering armor, he warped off. Damn stabs.

After this we had a slight reprieve, as the holies went back to their pos to lick their wounds. I had to afk for a bit, and one of our new members jumped into the hole in his purifer to take my place for a short while.

It seemed that the malediction wanted another go at killing an SB- so it took the same bait... again this happened:

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14377170

Gotta love that faction point drop <3

They decided to engage again- right after i returned from being afk this time with 2 draek, a black bird and a rook! They also brought along a crow. Luckily for us, it seemed that our pilgrim bait was working, and the raven bait had drawn aggro. The pilgrim uncloaked, released drones and was jammed.

I don't know if the rook forgot I was there- but i uncloaked about 20K off him, pointed him and shot torps up his tail pipe.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14377414

Gotta love those faction multi's

The crow got mad- and chased me, so we gave chase with warrior 2's

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14377403

At this point, it was neut domi, 2 drake, black bird vs 1 low sp raven, 1 pilgrim, 1 purifier. So we disengaged.

I wake up this morning to activity in the hole- and find this jumping through:

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14383585

Because he was too busy typing 'ARE YOU F@&*ING KIDDING ME' in local- i killed this as well:

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14383587

Ya thats right, my sb is an interceptor abortion clinic. I killed three of those fast shmucks while there were in utero.

Also why do you run PI in this? Fill wish so much... stuff?

Stealth bomber musings: Odd fits, and the MSE

Due to the success of my 'blueprints' series, I have decided to continue in the same vein as my other 'informative' stealth bomber postings. Today I am going to be covering some rather unique bomber fits, as well as taking an in depth look at the MSE AB combo in bombers, and how this build stacks up against other popular solo setups.

To start this off with a bang I am going to first discuss the idea of the 10MN AB bomber. Now this idea may sound crazy, and it is. The brain child of this idea was the 100AB fits common on T3 ships, except this is modified for bomber use. Sadly the only way you can make this really work is with the purifier. All of the other SB can fit the 10ab- however the purifier has the largest cap of the 4, and because of this, can really make this setup shine. So first let me list the fit for you. Be warned, it is VERY SP INTENSIVE you are going to need perfect fitting skills if you hope to squeeze this onto your bomber.

Purifier, 10AB

Arbalest siege missile launcher, Caldari navy mjolnir torpedoes
Arbalest siege missile launcher, Caldari navy mjolnir torpedoes

Covert ops Cloak
Core Probe Launcher

10MN Corelum C type AB
Warp DisruptorII
'Canyon' Shield Extender

Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Thukker Micro Aux Power Core
Ballistic Control System II

Small ancillary current router I
Small ancillary current router II

This fit provides the following stats:
DPS: 416
EHP: 3.25K
Cap lasts: 4:44 with everything on
Speed: 1934m/s
Align time / Agility: 21.9s with AB on, 4.78s with AB off
Signature Radius: 41

And there you have it folks, the best 10AB fit. Like the 100AB tengu, don't expect to simply click orbit and expect and easy kill. Your agility is HORRIBLE- therefore you must make your manual piloting turning maneuvers in between AB cycles. Yes this means that you have to CONTINUALLY pulse your AB, and make any navigation changes then. Its curious, becuase if your after burner skill was lower (IE your mod is active for a shorter period of time) you could theoretically be better suited to this fit, although your Cap would suffer a fair bit. However provided you learn how to fly this beast, the damage mitigation that this fit provides is simply astounding. Drakes do a whopping 25dps (provided perfect skills with HML's) and turrets have a very very hard time tracking you with any reliability.

If you can learn how to fly this fit, and learn how to control- and to only navigate when your prop is off, you have a chance, a very good chance at soloing just about anything cruiser and up. Light drones will still be a problem, but other than those you have few enemies. This fit is yet untested, as I don't have all of my fitting skills to 5 yet lol I promise that once I can fly this, I will try it and make a report, until then it's simply a nice idea on paper.

Moving on to more SP realistic fits. The next fit that I am going to talk about again is still in the early stages for me. It requires that you drop some ISK on your faction point. This fit only works with the nemesis, and is all about sensor damps!

Nemesis, Sensor damp

Ballistic Control System II

Small Inverted Field Projector I

Fit Stats:
DPS: 416
EHP: 1.53K
Speed:  2123
Align: 6.88s with MWD on, 5.09s MWD off
Signature: 37 with MWD off, 193 with MWD on
Capacitor: With out MWD 1:20, MWD on 40 seconds

As you can see, this fit is very very cap hungry, and there is no place for a cap booster. The idea is too keep from using your MWD unless you absolutely have to. With your sensor damps, and your faction point you can stay out of targeting range of any ship class (Recons excluded) The idea of this fit is simple: Damp down the target, overheat your torps and pray that you can kill them before your cap dries out. As you can see this fit is very specialized, and again you are still weak to drones. However if you find a ship with out a flight of T2 lights, you can easily win the day- because who needs a tank when you cannot be targeted? You can damp most ships down to 26K, and with your dominion pint- you can orbit at 28/29 and be safe :)

Lastly- I have the most 'realistic' of the three fits that I will be discussing today- the 1AB and MSE combo.

Again this fit works best with Two bomber hulls- the Hound.

Hound, 1MN AB, MSE

Arbalest Siege Missile Launcher: Caldari Navy Bane Torpedoes
Arbalest Siege Missile Launcher: Caldari Navy Bane Torpedoes
Arbalest Siege Missile Launcher: Caldari Navy Bane Torpedoes
Covert Cloaking device

Warp Disruptor II
'Canyon' Med. Shield Extender
1mn Coreli B type MWD

Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Ballistic Control System II

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing II
Small Bay Loading Accelerator I

Fit Stats:
Speed: 1105
DPS: 456
Signature 38
Agility: 4.85 With AB on, 3.56 With AB off
EHP: 3.11K
Cap: Stable @ 47.4% with everything running

And The Purifer:

Arbalest siege missile launcher, Caldari navy mjolnir torpedoes
Arbalest siege missile launcher, Caldari navy mjolnir torpedoes
Arbalest siege missile launcher, Caldari navy mjolnir torpedoes
Covert ops Cloak
Core Probe Launcher

Medium Shield Extender II
Warp Disruptor II
1mn Coreli B type AB

Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Ballistic Control System II

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing II
Small Bay Loading Accelerator I

Stats:
Speed: 1011m/s
Align: AB on 5.25, AB off 3.87
Signature: 44
EHP: 3.41K
Cap: Stable with all running @ 56.5%

As you can see the hound and the purifier are somewhat similar. The hound trades EHP + Cargo Capacity for increased agility, speed, and signature bonus. Really the fits are almost the same. the purifiers increased EHP makes up for it's slightly slower speed / sig tank, while the hound increased speed / agility and decreased Sig, make up for its small drop in EHP. At the end of the day, these fits are mostly the same.

Against Drakes- you can last for quite some time, as the DPS fired against you will be mitigated. really what it will come down to  (provided the drake does not have warrior 2) is simply SP. There are situations where you could 'solo' a drake, but you must make sure that you know what you are getting into. Check the pilots fit on BC, check character age ext. Of course the more the merrier, and 2 SB's running this fit should be able to drop a drake- provided your hitting in a nice damage hole/

Against Canes / Harbis- If they are running a PVE fit you have a chance. If it's a PvP cane / harbi that is shield fit, I would keep my distance, as they will be faster than you. Otherwise your goal here is to get under the guns. If auto cannon / pulse, get in around 15K and orbit there. You are going to need to keep transversal up. ideally you would engage an arty pve cane- as getting under the guns is much much easier.

Against BS ships, again you should have no problem. Get close, and orbit tight.

When fighting ANY ship you have to realize your weakness:

Webs- stay out of web range, and overheated web range. Speed is your life.
Scrams- Again you should really not be this close, but a scram isn't going to hinder your AB in any way
Neuts: Med neuts have a 12 K range, and Heavy neuts are 25k. Because you don't have a cap booster, you can get into trouble quickly if you are neuted, and can't warp off.
Small drones: Warrior 2 drones, if you see them run. You will get your shit rocked by them.

I enjoy this fit in many ways. If you take the time and go into EveGeek.com and check their tracking calculator, it's pretty amazing how well you can evade gunfire from BC class ships- even with 2 tracking mods- your sig and speed tank can work some wonders. Auto cannons for example can get out tracked around 15K ish- while artillery- the closer the better :)

I really don't want to get into tons of calculations, and specific scenarios- but if your interested I trust that you are smart enough to figure that out on your own. I hope that you enjoyed your trip into my fitting madness. See you next week!

B B B B BattleShipes (Faction or otherwise) For Breakfast

Ahh my dream of getting a solo battle ship kill. Sadly this week I still do not have a 'solo' kill, but hey screw that. When you take on 2 battleships and an SB in nothing but a pilgirm and a purifier- I don't care how I got the kills. Let me set the stage for you-

A friend of mine wanted to come and join Peek a boo in our latest camping situation inside a worm hole. I had scanned down a chain or wormholes that eventually lead into high sec. While I was traversing these holes to go and pick our firend up, I came upon a hole that was quite active. There were many BS class ships moving around, and it seemd that they were moving some material in and out of the Low sec static hole. So me and the pilgrim pilot took up position on the hole and waited. It didn't take long for our first victem to arrive.

A badger made the mistake of warping about 10K away from the worm hole. Because I can insta pop badgers- his slow flight inot the 5K radious of the hole, was all I needed. I uncloaked, and shot a single volley of torps at him. B A N G. and becuase he refused to drop anything of value- I took his pod down as well. During this entire time our friend in a pilgrim had decided to stay cloaked. We didn't want to reveal our full presence yet. After pocking the hornets nest- they responded with gusto. I flew back to the POS and watched as one of their corp members jumped into a hound. (Time for a bomber dog fight!) I watched as he warped to the hole, and cloaked up. So i followed and tried to get him to engage. I tried everything I could to make it look like I was a retard in a steath bomber.

Actions like uncloaking and slowbating to the hole, or accedentially decloaking myself on the badger wreck ext. Luckily my efforts were not in vain- and the hound decided to engage me after 10 min of my retarted antics. He uncloaked within my long point range, and hit me with a TP. I knew things were going to go poorly for him when I noticed that he was shooting EM torps at me...... For those of you that don't know each bomber has a racial damage type- where they get HUGE bonuses to their damage. For the hound it's Bane explosive dmg torps- I was loling. We were fighting and I had him down to about 50% armor. WHile he had yet to scratch my paint- when all of a sudden  a CNR and Scorpion landed. I decided to switch targets, and shot a volley at the incoming scorp- HOLY FUCK MY TORPS HIT FOR 7210 DMG. The scorp had his shields gone with a single shot.

Sadly for me, He was out of point range and I was jammed quickly. So i cloaked up and warped off, to rep my armor back up, and reload my torps. The hound recloaked, and by the time I flew back to the hole there was nothing but a CNR sitting about 30K off the static Low sec. Now dear reader you have to remember that during this entire time our pilgrim pilot had been sitting in the wings watching and waiting. We decided that the CNR might be a funny choice to try and take down. The scorp was back in his POS licking wounds, and the hound was really no threat to either me or the pilgrim.

So we made the call- lets do this! The pilgrim decloaked close off the CNR's flank and pounced. All the neuts on with web and scram. I held my cloak, and waited for the CNRS hardeners to turn off. As i was waiting and slamming my D scan, I noticed that the scorpion was moving from the POS and most likely coming to the rescue of his CNR companion. Once the scorpion landed I was ready for him. I decloaked and flew at him. I overheated my torps, and watched as I started to down the Scorp. The first torp again mealted all of it's shields- the second brought him down to 25% armor, and just as the third volley screemed out of the tubes- I was jammed.

BUT! Luckily for me my torps were on thier deadly path.... I watched with bated breath as they collided with his hull, and the mighty scorpion went from 25% armor to POP! Once he was down, I turned my attention to the CNR. By this time our pilgrim companion Liku had enough time (with recon lv 5) to suck that faction battlehsip dry. I overheated my torps again and began to gouge huge chunks of shield and armor from the ailing battlehip. Just as we were entering armor- the hound shows up again. I lock and start to fire on him again, but I made a huge mistake- I didn't move my point from the CNR onto the hound. Becuase of this- the hound was able to escape in low HP from the combined assult of my torps and the pilgrims angry warrior 2 drones.

I was quite sad, as this was my mistake and it would have been a nice kill. After the hound had left, I again turned my attention back to the CNR and proceeded to finish my work. The CNR dropped quickly. As the mighty battle ship shattered into a million pieces, I thought to myself damn a single pilgrim and a bomber can cause quite a bit of damage. I was very happy with my self, and I would like to thank Liku for his hero pilgim use.

Hope you enjoyed the blog for this week ladies, and remember-

Fly dangerously!
