Stealth bomber musings: Odd fits, and the MSE

Due to the success of my 'blueprints' series, I have decided to continue in the same vein as my other 'informative' stealth bomber postings. Today I am going to be covering some rather unique bomber fits, as well as taking an in depth look at the MSE AB combo in bombers, and how this build stacks up against other popular solo setups.

To start this off with a bang I am going to first discuss the idea of the 10MN AB bomber. Now this idea may sound crazy, and it is. The brain child of this idea was the 100AB fits common on T3 ships, except this is modified for bomber use. Sadly the only way you can make this really work is with the purifier. All of the other SB can fit the 10ab- however the purifier has the largest cap of the 4, and because of this, can really make this setup shine. So first let me list the fit for you. Be warned, it is VERY SP INTENSIVE you are going to need perfect fitting skills if you hope to squeeze this onto your bomber.

Purifier, 10AB

This fit provides the following stats:
DPS: 416
EHP: 3.25K
Cap lasts: 4:44 with everything on
Speed: 1934m/s
Align time / Agility: 21.9s with AB on, 4.78s with AB off
Signature Radius: 41

And there you have it folks, the best 10AB fit. Like the 100AB tengu, don't expect to simply click orbit and expect and easy kill. Your agility is HORRIBLE- therefore you must make your manual piloting turning maneuvers in between AB cycles. Yes this means that you have to CONTINUALLY pulse your AB, and make any navigation changes then. Its curious, becuase if your after burner skill was lower (IE your mod is active for a shorter period of time) you could theoretically be better suited to this fit, although your Cap would suffer a fair bit. However provided you learn how to fly this beast, the damage mitigation that this fit provides is simply astounding. Drakes do a whopping 25dps (provided perfect skills with HML's) and turrets have a very very hard time tracking you with any reliability.

If you can learn how to fly this fit, and learn how to control- and to only navigate when your prop is off, you have a chance, a very good chance at soloing just about anything cruiser and up. Light drones will still be a problem, but other than those you have few enemies. This fit is yet untested, as I don't have all of my fitting skills to 5 yet lol I promise that once I can fly this, I will try it and make a report, until then it's simply a nice idea on paper.

Moving on to more SP realistic fits. The next fit that I am going to talk about again is still in the early stages for me. It requires that you drop some ISK on your faction point. This fit only works with the nemesis, and is all about sensor damps!

Fit Stats:
DPS: 416
EHP: 1.53K
Speed:  2123
Align: 6.88s with MWD on, 5.09s MWD off
Signature: 37 with MWD off, 193 with MWD on
Capacitor: With out MWD 1:20, MWD on 40 seconds

As you can see, this fit is very very cap hungry, and there is no place for a cap booster. The idea is too keep from using your MWD unless you absolutely have to. With your sensor damps, and your faction point you can stay out of targeting range of any ship class (Recons excluded) The idea of this fit is simple: Damp down the target, overheat your torps and pray that you can kill them before your cap dries out. As you can see this fit is very specialized, and again you are still weak to drones. However if you find a ship with out a flight of T2 lights, you can easily win the day- because who needs a tank when you cannot be targeted? You can damp most ships down to 26K, and with your dominion pint- you can orbit at 28/29 and be safe :)

Lastly- I have the most 'realistic' of the three fits that I will be discussing today- the 1AB and MSE combo.

Again this fit works best with Two bomber hulls- the Hound.

As you can see the hound and the purifier are somewhat similar. The hound trades EHP + Cargo Capacity for increased agility, speed, and signature bonus. Really the fits are almost the same. the purifiers increased EHP makes up for it's slightly slower speed / sig tank, while the hound increased speed / agility and decreased Sig, make up for its small drop in EHP. At the end of the day, these fits are mostly the same.

Against Drakes- you can last for quite some time, as the DPS fired against you will be mitigated. really what it will come down to  (provided the drake does not have warrior 2) is simply SP. There are situations where you could 'solo' a drake, but you must make sure that you know what you are getting into. Check the pilots fit on BC, check character age ext. Of course the more the merrier, and 2 SB's running this fit should be able to drop a drake- provided your hitting in a nice damage hole/

Against Canes / Harbis- If they are running a PVE fit you have a chance. If it's a PvP cane / harbi that is shield fit, I would keep my distance, as they will be faster than you. Otherwise your goal here is to get under the guns. If auto cannon / pulse, get in around 15K and orbit there. You are going to need to keep transversal up. ideally you would engage an arty pve cane- as getting under the guns is much much easier.

Against BS ships, again you should have no problem. Get close, and orbit tight.

When fighting ANY ship you have to realize your weakness:

Webs- stay out of web range, and overheated web range. Speed is your life.
Scrams- Again you should really not be this close, but a scram isn't going to hinder your AB in any way
Neuts: Med neuts have a 12 K range, and Heavy neuts are 25k. Because you don't have a cap booster, you can get into trouble quickly if you are neuted, and can't warp off.
Small drones: Warrior 2 drones, if you see them run. You will get your shit rocked by them.

I enjoy this fit in many ways. If you take the time and go into EveGeek.com and check their tracking calculator, it's pretty amazing how well you can evade gunfire from BC class ships- even with 2 tracking mods- your sig and speed tank can work some wonders. Auto cannons for example can get out tracked around 15K ish- while artillery- the closer the better :)

I really don't want to get into tons of calculations, and specific scenarios- but if your interested I trust that you are smart enough to figure that out on your own. I hope that you enjoyed your trip into my fitting madness. See you next week!
